去る2020年、私達The Shakuhachi ５と、海外の尺八奏者の方々と共同委嘱しました作品"Shakuhachi Five"（藤倉大作曲）が、3年の時をかけ世界を巡りました！
2020年東京・2021年ニューヨーク・そして2023年プラハにて初演巡回、コロナ禍を乗り越えてついに完結いたしました！

まず初めに途中までの楽譜を頂いたときに、冒頭がユリ(首を動かして音程を変える奏法)のオンパレード！もちろんこれまでにそのような曲はなく、いったいどのような曲になるのだろうと胸を躍らせました。そして余談ですがコロナ禍でのリハーサルにて万全を期して着用したフェイスシールドが、揺れに揺れたのが思い出されます。
ついに出来上がった曲、ユリから始まりトリル・一音を中心にしたそれぞれのアドリブ・フーガなど、そしてトレモロでの終曲。様々な表現方法が用いられ、さらに尺八の個性がしっかり生かされた曲想に、一同大きな驚きと、この曲を演奏できる喜びに改めて本番への決意を固めました。
いよいよ迎えたコンサート、開催できるかどうかの状況にもかかわらずたくさんの方にお越し下さり、また盛大な拍手をいただきました。アンケートでも「こんな曲は初めて聞いた！」などのお声を頂きました。この素晴らしい曲が多くの尺八奏者に演奏され、たくさんの方々に聞いていただけることを心より願っております！ （The Shakuhachi 5）

Concert Title: BAMBOO FOREST

All the performers were very excited to participate in the US premiere. We all enjoyed how Mr. Fujikura composed for the shakuhachi and the ensemble writing was excellent. We had several rehearsals before the performance and the performance went very very well.
One aspect of Shakuhachi Five which we all liked was Mr. Fujikura’s use of vibrato, and how he specified different kinds of vibrato which we all played together. This created a very dramatic sound. Towards to middle of the piece there was a fugue which was very effective and it was enjoyable as each player passed the melody from one to the next. We also thought that using five different length instruments gave the music a rich and expanded color. (by James Nyoraku Schlefer)
2023【European Premiere】Prague

The European premiere of Shakuhachi Five was a very well prepared event. It benefited from featuring Akihito Obama, a member of the Shakuhachi 5 ensemble that played its world premiere in Tokyo. Four out of five performers of the ensemble could gather in Tokyo for rehearse prior to coming to Prague. Also the International Shakuhachi Festival Prague invited its composer Dai Fujikura to personally oversee the final stages of the rehearsal process in Prague as well as the actual European premiere.
The performance concluded the second half of the concert programme and was very well received from members of the Czech general public as well as composers, shakuhachi players and other musicians who come to International Shakuhachi Festival Prague from over 12 countries. (by Marek Kimei Matvija)
